100% Julian Edelman Quick View Edelman Cooks Up a Solid Doc Grade: B
Source: IMDB

100%: Julian Edelman is a ShowTime Original Documentary film, following the life of New England Patriots Wide Receiver Julian Edelman. We go through Edelman’s entire life, dealing with his family, humble beginnings in football from peewee to the NFL, but more importantly going through the recovery process of Edelman’s season ending ACL injury. This was a cool little documentary film, surprisingly enough it has more to offer than just being an inspiring story. It delivers some lovely visuals, solid 2D animation, even offers a solid amount of laughs from special guests from well known celebrities. I will state at one point in the film where Edelman and his father stopped speaking to each other, for a good amount of time, the screen read “Julian and Frank do not talk for 81 days”.... You can easily find the grammar error in that sentence. As far as presentation goes this film doesn’t do anything spectacular, can easily be compared to any ESPN 30 for 30 documentary style film, which isn’t necessarily a bad comparison at all. I feel those whom are fans of Edelman could appreciate this little documentary film, as well as those whom aren’t fans. The film offers a story that is inspiring, Edelman went through many obstacles to get where he’s at today and just didn’t take no for an answer. He put his mind to the task, work very hard to get there, didn’t let excuses hold him back, as he achieved greatness. It’s a reminder that as long as you work hard, stay patient and remain positive, you’ll get to where you’re going in no time. Overall, 100%: Julian Edelman is a solid documentary film. I recommend giving this a watch if you have ShowTime, nice stuff Jules, nice stuff. -Mitch Smietana
